On March 27-28 and 30-31, 2023, Training on Gender Responsive Budgeting for interested parties was held with an engagement of the Budget Office and with an assistance of the EU4Gender Equality Reform Helpdesk.
Invited international expert with years of experience on Gender Budgeting Issues – Dr. Elisabeth Klatzer, conducted the training sessions.
Representatives from Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia, Administration of Government of Georgia, Public Defender's Office of Georgia and representatives from various State Agencies, who are directly engaged in policy and decision-making processes, as well as persons responsible for gender focal points, were invited to the training.
During the training, the participants had a chance to be acquainted with International practice; they discussed the importance of gender equality in frames of budgetary processes as well as in tax policy. In a group format, participants examined the achievements and challenges in the process of introducing gender-sensitive budgeting in Georgia. They also discussed gender importance and gender sensitivity issues of sectors and relevant programs. By the end of the training certificates were awarded to the participants.
